Corporate Wellbeing Service 101

We get asked a lot of the same questions by HR teams and wellbeing leads before they book us, so we've put the honest answers here. If you don't see what you need, just get in touch and we'll talk it through properly.

What does a corporate wellbeing programme with HARAKA actually include?

It depends on what your organisation needs, but our Employee Wellbeing programmes are built around four areas: physical health, mental health, nutrition and financial wellbeing. That might mean fitness sessions and health screenings, stress management workshops, nutrition talks, or sessions on financial literacy and planning. We design the mix based on what your employees are actually dealing with, not a fixed template. Some organisations want a broad programme touching all four areas over a year, others want to focus on one, like mental health, and go deeper. We’ll ask questions first before recommending anything.

What’s the difference between a one-off wellness day and an ongoing wellbeing programme?

A wellness day is a single event, usually a few hours or a full day, with activations, talks and activities that give employees a boost and raise awareness. It’s a good starting point or a nice standalone event. An ongoing programme runs over weeks, months or a full year, with regular touchpoints, and it’s what actually shifts habits and engagement over time. Our DCD Annual Wellbeing Programme is an example of the longer-term approach, covering physical, social, occupational, spiritual, financial and emotional wellbeing through workshops and experiences across the year. Both have their place, we just want clients to know which one they’re actually asking for.

Can you run seminars or workshops on specific topics like nutrition, stress or financial wellbeing?

Yes, this is a big part of what we do. We run standalone seminars and workshops on nutrition, stress management, mental health, financial wellbeing and general physical health, either as one-off sessions or built into a longer programme. If your organisation already knows the topic you want covered, that’s easy for us to plan around. If you’re not sure what your employees need most, we can help figure that out first and suggest a starting topic. Workshops can be delivered to small teams or larger groups depending on your numbers and venue.

Is the programme tailored to our organisation or is it a standard package?

Tailored. We don’t have a one-size-fits-all package we push on every client. Every organisation has a different size, budget, culture and set of challenges, so we build the programme around that rather than fitting you into something pre-made. That said, tailoring doesn’t mean starting from a blank page every time, we draw on what’s worked in programmes like our work with DCD and Ma’an’s ACTIVE Communities initiative and adapt the format to your context. Expect an initial conversation about your goals and workforce before we put anything in writing.

Do you only operate in Abu Dhabi?

No. We’re based in Abu Dhabi, with our flagship gym at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City, and most of our long-term programmes have been delivered there, but we work as a corporate wellbeing company across the Emirates. Our EXPO 2020 project, where we ran the Sports, Fitness & Wellbeing Hub for six months, is a good example of us operating at scale beyond Abu Dhabi. If your organisation is based elsewhere in the UAE or has offices spread across several emirates, get in touch and we’ll talk through logistics.

How many employees can you support?

Anywhere from a small team of a handful of people up to large public-facing programmes reaching tens of thousands. Our ACTIVE Communities programme with Ma’an involved 38 participating companies and over 34,000 individual participants across 49 parks and 6 malls, and at the other end we run workshops for single departments or small offices. The format changes with scale, a workshop for 15 people looks very different to a citywide activation, but the planning approach is the same: understand the numbers and venues first, then design around them.

Do you work with government entities and community organisations, or just private companies?

Both, and it’s a meaningful part of what we do. We’ve delivered the Annual Wellbeing Programme for the Department of Community Development, worked with Ma’an on the ACTIVE Communities initiative, and partnered with organisations including Aldar, Miral and the Family Care Authority. So alongside private sector corporate wellbeing work, we’re used to the scale, reporting and stakeholder requirements that come with government and community-facing programmes. If you’re a government entity looking at a wellbeing company with that kind of track record, this is very much within what we do day to day, wherever in the UAE you’re based.

How long does a typical wellbeing programme run?

There isn’t really a typical length, it ranges from a single seminar of an hour or two, up to multi-week or year-long programmes. A standalone workshop is obviously shorter and simpler to arrange. A full programme, like our DCD partnership, runs across a full year with workshops, activations and experiences spread throughout. Somewhere in between, we’ve delivered 10-week initiatives, like the Healthy School Leaders programme for schools. We’d rather ask what outcome you’re after and recommend a timeframe that fits, than push a longer programme than you actually need.

How do you measure success or engagement?

It depends on the programme, but generally we look at participation numbers, attendance across sessions, and feedback from employees, alongside whatever specific goals the client sets at the start. For larger programmes we track things like number of sessions delivered, participants reached and, where relevant, ambassadors or volunteers trained, as we did with the wellness ambassadors in the ACTIVE Communities programme. For a single seminar, success might just be attendance and feedback scores. We agree what “success” looks like with each client before the programme starts, rather than applying the same metrics to everyone.

Can wellbeing work be combined with events or team building?

Yes, and it often works well that way. Alongside Employee Wellbeing, we also run Team Building and Events Management as separate services, so a wellness day can sit alongside team building activities, or a wellbeing seminar can be built into a larger company event. Our Festival of Health is an example of wellbeing content delivered through an events format, with fitness activations, workshops and interactive experiences in one programme. If you want a single day that combines a team activity with a wellbeing element, tell us that upfront and we’ll design it as one experience rather than two separate bookings.

How far in advance should we book?

The earlier the better, particularly for larger programmes or anything involving multiple venues, government approvals or a full year of activity, those need a few months of lead time for planning, staffing and logistics. A single workshop or seminar can often be arranged with much shorter notice, sometimes a few days, depending on our availability and the venue. If you have a fixed date in mind, tell us as early as you can, and if you’re flexible on timing we can usually work around a shorter lead time.

What does it cost to get started?

There’s no fixed price list because the cost depends entirely on scope, group size, number of sessions, venue and how much customisation is involved. A single seminar for a small team costs a lot less than a year-long programme reaching thousands of employees, which is why we don’t quote a number until we understand what you actually need. What we can say is that we’ll give you a clear, honest proposal once we know your goals and numbers, and there’s no cost or obligation to have that initial conversation and get a quote.

How do we enquire or get a proposal?

Reach out through our website or get in touch directly, and tell us a bit about your organisation, roughly how many employees you want to involve, and what you’re hoping to achieve, whether that’s a single seminar or a longer programme. We’ll usually follow up with some questions to understand your goals properly before putting together a proposal, rather than sending a generic quote straight away. There’s no cost to enquire, and we’re happy to talk through options even if you’re still at the early “what would this even look like” stage.

What makes HARAKA different from other wellbeing providers in the UAE?

Mostly our track record with sustained, large-scale programmes rather than just one-off days. We’ve been operating in the UAE since 2009, and our work with the Department of Community Development, Ma’an’s ACTIVE Communities initiative and the EXPO 2020 Wellbeing Hub shows we can deliver wellbeing work at real scale over long periods, across different parts of the country, not just a single activation and a photo. We also work across six connected services, gym and physical wellness, employee wellbeing, team building, events, school outreach and youth camps, so if your needs grow or shift, we’re not starting from scratch with a new provider each time.
